I don’t fully understand how the tracking software works, but yes. That’s the point. Facebook uses the Pixel to track your activity elsewhere on the internet so it can serve you targeted advertising.
The Facebook Pixel associates your activity between the website you visit and Facebook and works with the cookies Facebook has dumped onto your computer.
It also stores information about your activity directly onto the vendor's website (i.e., FTDNA or GEDmatch) such that you cannot avoid it by deleting or blocking cookies.
It’s frightening. You can even add a Facebook Pixel to your Substack here. Its use for Facebook is for identifying audiences for targeted advertising on Facebook paid for by businesses or political campaigns or any number of entities.
People who post their every opinion about products, politics, travel, and life in general on Facebook provide lots of delicious data.
